How Rolfing Structural Integration Works

Rolfing Structural Integration is a hands-on approach that looks at how the body is organised as a whole. Rather than focusing only on where pain shows up, sessions explore patterns of tension, imbalance, and compensation across the body.

Work is done gradually, helping the body find more support, balance, and ease in movement over time. The intention is not short-term relief, but changes that continue to hold as the body adapts.

People often come to Rolfing after other approaches haven’t created lasting change.

What Sessions Are Like

Sessions are one-to-one and hands-on, usually on a treatment table, sometimes combined with simple movement or awareness as needed. The pace is unhurried, and sessions are tailored to how your body responds rather than following a fixed routine.

Each session builds on the previous one, gradually working with patterns of tension, support, and movement across the body. Time between sessions allows changes to settle and integrate, rather than requiring frequent ongoing treatment.

People often notice changes not only in specific symptoms, but in how their body feels and moves day to day.

Who This Work Tends to Help

Rolfing Structural Integration is often helpful for people who:

  • Have ongoing pain, tension, or stiffness that hasn’t fully resolved with other approaches

  • Notice recurring postural or movement patterns

  • Feel limited, restricted, or “out of balance” in their body

  • Want long-term improvement rather than short-term relief

  • Are curious about understanding and changing how their body works as a whole

This work may be less suitable if you’re looking for a quick fix or a purely passive treatment without engagement.
